This small family farm is owned and operated by first generation farmers, Allen and Sarah Lowrance and their three tiny farmers, Emma, Mary Claire, and Olivia. Come visit with our heritage breed Gloucester Old Spot pigs and Gulf Coast Native sheep. Hold a baby chick and pet an angora rabbit. Take a walk through our truffiere. The farm will have heritage pastured pork, eggs, homemade crocheted items and more for sale. Come join us on a tour and hear the comic tales of trying to produce your own food by trial and error and of our new ventures into fiber!

We have picnic tables, rocking chairs, swings, a sandbox, a tunnel slide, a hiking trail, an observation bee hive…and don’t leave without getting some ice cream!

A small working farm with beef cattle being our main income along with raising free range chickens eggs, hay and pumpkins. Three years ago, we began farm agritourism.  During 6 weeks in the fall, we opened our farm to schools and do educational farm tours which includes 5 educational stations. We also raise alpacas and use their fiber to make yarn and clothing items.  We have a lesson for our farm tours we call “From Fleece to Fiber” in which we demonstrate how we make yarn including the use of spinning wheels and looms.  We also would like to show case our Wood Miser sawmill.  All buildings on the farm, (with the exception of the original red barn and the old milking parlor) have been built by Doc using wood from the farm and the Wood Miser sawmill.

A small pasture-based farm that raises rare Gulf Coast Native sheep, along with heritage breed pigs, pastured poultry, and dairy goats. Visitors will be able to interact with our sheep and dairy goats; see our laying flock, broiler chickens, turkeys, and pigs; and learn about sustainable farming.

Farm products available to purchase include non-GMO pastured meats (chicken, pork, and lamb), eggs, seasonal produce, wool yarn, sheepskin rugs, and handmade soaps.

Our tiny family owned and operated blueberry farm has been in full operation about 7 years.  We have early and later varieties and if they are bearing, and they should be, you are welcome to pick-your-own while you visit us.  The larger sweeter berries arrive in June so it is a wonderful time for picking!  We never spray our berries so you can eat them right off the bush.  Darcy Wagner’s honeybees have enjoyed the nectar and she will also be here showing off her sweet wares.

Our 800-acre historic site is home to several breeds of heritage animals and heirloom crops.  Come meet our Gulf Coast sheep, dominique chickens, draft horse and cows. The fields of the antebellum plantation will be planted with corn, cotton and more.  Learn how our Carolina ancestors relied on hard work and the land for survival and success.

We are offering many children’s activities through guest booths including York County 4-H, Piedmont Music Therapy, and RideAbility. Artists include NanaZ’s Quilts and Sally’s Sandcastings. You can also fish in stocked pond for free (catch and release only with single hook. Bring your own pole and bait), geocache, and disc-golf (Bring your own discs).

Ketchen Place Farm is a private, family operated horse breeding farm. We breed Thoroughbred and Warmblood horses for the sporthorse disciplines of Eventing, Dressage and Hunter/Jumpers.

Ketchen Place Farm is normally closed to the public but for the Ag + Art Tour we welcome the public to come visit the horses. We will have foals, broodmares and young horses in our architecturally unique barn designed specifically for the comfort and health of the horses.

We are a small family farm that provides our community with Non-GMO, soy free, free range fresh frozen chicken and farm fresh eggs. All our animals are raised with love and compassion. Our pygmy and Nigerian goats are raised and sold as pets. We also breed unique, specialty chickens which include all types of silkies (standard, frizzle, sizzle, smooth) and several types of polish (white crested black, silver laced, buff laced). Our small organic garden provides our chickens with a wide variety of greens and herb. We also grow organic veggies for our family. The country store in the barn sells a variety of quilting supplies, original artwork & antiques.

  • Blue Lagoon Café will be here serving up our chicken off his one of a kind smoker/grill. The beverages will be ice cold and Kenya will be offing her “Abso-damn-lutely” barbeque sauce to spice things up a bit!
  • Relieve a little stress by enjoying a seated massage offered by reiki master, Ingrid.
  • You can also enjoy an organic wine tasting.
  • There will be plenty of photo opportunities and the kiddos can get free face painting.
  • Amber Stegall will do a spray painting demonstration at 1:00 pm that you won’t want to miss.

Blending agriculture and art, we invite you to visit our 90-acre farm, greenhouse and pottery studio!  Here you can watch potters at work in our large showroom, take a walk along the creek and by an old Sharecroppers cabin and explore our large organic garden.

 

Special Activities

  • Children will be able to make a small piece of handmade pottery, which will be fired and picked up later (firing charge applies).  Children can also feed the fish in the pond under parental supervision and we have mowed paths for walking, up the pasture or along the creek.

Come and see the exterior of one of the older homes in the Clover area, built between 1860 and 1880, a restored, reclaimed log cabin rebuilt as a country store called “The Cabin,” and other period buildings including a smokehouse and a blacksmith forge. “The Cabin Country Store” will be open to purchase our farm-raised meats, seasonal produce, farm made soap, fresh eggs, honey, and local handcrafted items. Kids will love viewing all of our farm animals!

Come meet Dori Sanders at her Peach Farm Stand in Filbert. Her family operates one of the oldest African-American farms in the region (her father, a former sharecropper, bought the land around 1915). The farm produces fruits and vegetables and specializes in growing Georgia Bells and Elberta peaches which are sold at an old roadside stand.

  • Visitors to Sanders Peaches will not only meet a peach farmer, but also enjoy the experience of meeting a renowned author and storyteller. Visitors can take a trip to her special storytelling rock to see where the imagination comes to life.

    We raise pastured broiler chickens, free range laying hens, beef cattle, and dairy goats. We also will have mini horses to view.  You’ll be able to walk the farm and see the chickens in the brooders as well as the pastures and visit with the cattle, goats, and horses.
    We will have frozen chicken available for purchase including chicken sausage so bring a cooler and stock up on local, pastured chicken!
