As is the case with any team, the end of the year provides a great opportunity to reflect on all that has transpired and been accomplished over the past 12 months. So, as 2016 comes to a close, it’s certainly an appropriate time for Team South Carolina to take a moment and celebrate our greatest hits of the year.
Among our major victories were a trio of significant projects that brought record-breaking results to their respective communities. CompuCom made the largest single jobs announcement in Lancaster County history; Teijin announced the largest initial capital investment in Greenwood County history; and, the announcement of China Jushi’s Richland County fiberglass plant represented the county’s largest capital investment in more than three decades.
While these results were remarkable, Team South Carolina’s success wasn’t confined to just its industry recruitment efforts. The Palmetto State also enjoyed yet another solid year in international trade. Through the end of the third quarter, South Carolina’s exporters had achieved export sales of $23.5 billion — a two percent increase over the record results of 2015.
In retrospect, it’s clear that Team South Carolina continues to build on the momentum generated over the last six years. And, looking head, I am excited to work with each and every one of you as we aim to keep it going in 2017.
